How to make Air Fryer Sweet Potato Wedges
Step 1: Firstly, slice each sweet potato with a sharp knife into evenly sized wedges on a cutting board. Cut the sweet potato in half lengthwise, then half again and finally in half once more.
Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine the wedges, olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss until the wedges are evenly coated.
Step 3: Place the sweet potato wedges in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
Air fry at 200°C (400°F) for 15-18 minutes. Flip the wedges halfway through the cook time. Wedges should be golden brown and crispy on the outside, while still tender on the inside.
Hint: Avoid overcrowding the wedges in the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking this helps to stop excess moisture. You may need to cook them in batches.
Leftovers
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer. See FAQ’s below for freezer instructions.
Recipe FAQs
The length of time you cook sweet potatoes in air fryer depends on a few different things. My overall guide for wedges is 15-18 minutes at 200°C (390F). Some of the things that will alter that is the size of your wedges and the type of air fryer you have. If you’re making thinner yam fries, they’ll cook more quickly. If you’re doing a full baked potato, it will take longer.
Yes! If you’d like to use frozen sweet potatoes or even cut and then add your wedges to the freezer ahead of time, that will work just fine. You can thaw them and follow the regular directions or you can cook them straight from frozen and increase the time a bit.
If you don’t leave enough room when making an air fryer recipe, whatever you’re cooking won’t crisp up the way it is supposed to. I love sweet potato wedges air fryer style because they are so crispy on the outside! You have to make sure to lay them in a single layer and allow for some space between them.
There are quite a few ways to cook sweet potatoes. You can lay them on a pan and make oven baked sweet potatoes. You could boil them. One of my favourite ways to make them is in the air fryer. You can do wedges or french fries or crispy potato chips!

- ½ tsp onion powder

Instructions
- Cut each sweet potato into wedges of even size. I do this by cutting in half lengthways, then half again, then half again to create wedge shapes.
- In a large bowl, add the sweet potato wedges, olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss until the wedges are evenly coated.
- Place the seasoned sweet potato wedges in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding to ensure even cooking. (You may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer).
- Air Fry at 200C (390°F) for 15-18 minutes, flipping halfway through the cooking time. The wedges should be golden brown and crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside.
