Recipe FAQs

What is the secret to a good crumble?

One important thing for a good oat crumble is to use a combination of oats and flour. I blend my oats into flour as I need a gluten free apple crumble. You don’t want to use liquid butter and make sure not to overmix it.

What are some good fruits to use in a crumble?

My personal favourite is a blackberry and apple crumble with oats. I also have a delicious Pear Crumble. Some other great fruits to use are raspberries, blueberries, peaches, or cherries.

Can you freeze apple and blackberry crumble?

Absolutely! You can freeze it baked or unbaked. This would be a great recipe to double and then cook one while you freeze the other. Just store in an airtight container for 2-3 months.

  1. Hi James I would love to leave a review but like so many who are gluten free I cannot eat oats. Would you just substitute with GF flour?
